A bit of everything I like

There is a proverb in my mother tongue that very frequently leaves me wondering if I am using my time in an effective manner or not.

The proverb is “El que mucho abarca poco aprieta” and it basically means that the person who tries to do too many things at once will very often be unsuccessful. I honestly don’t know if that means ‘unsuccessful at all of them’ or ‘unsuccessful at some of them, and successful at some others”, but it doesn’t sound very sexy anyhow.

In recent years I tried having a blog where I could post some of the texts I write, but unfortunately I usually found myself too busy to sit down and turn my inspiration into a decent coherent piece.

Then I posted once or twice in a different blog I wanted to write about Dota 2, but once again discovered I hardly had the time to invest in the researching portion of the writing process because I somehow wanted to make it look sort of ‘professional’ and interesting enough to be appealing for a very specialized audience that tends to be very knowledgeable – perhaps too much, since in that world almost EVERYBODY is a know it all, so I would very probably prove to fall short every time, or simply appear to be biased because I realized I was tempted to be writing a fan page and nothing more.

As if it were not enough, I also had this domain, where I had published a very sad website that didn’t make me happy anymore, so I avoided even looking at it because it had been designed so long ago, that I even forgot how to use the software I had initially used to develop it.

Sooooooo, I want to discover if that is in fact the problem with my case, and if the impossibility of doing so many things is what is actually freezing me. My hypothesis is that if I only focus in one site, I won’t care so much about fitting things in a certain category or even addressing a determined audience, but I will feel free enough to write about things I like whenever I want. Just an online journal about things I enjoy.

I guess at least one positive thing came out of my knee surgery, right? I hope in the future I can focus on accomplishing and updating other aspects of my life without the need of invasive procedures as an excuse to take some time off for myself.
